Don’t you loooooove my new look?  (If you’re in Google Reader, please click over to check out my new header!)  My dear bloggy friend (and should-be real life friend), Ashley, from Daily Goods gave my header a much-needed makeover!  Isn’t she the BEST?  Ashley designed her own header, as well as many others in the food blog world.  Head on over and tell her how talented she is!!!

Besides being stoked about my new fancy header, not much is going on in my world.  Having friends in town at the beginning of the work week was tiring, but GREAT!  We had a blast at the Rockies game on Tuesday night and I promise to post both pics that we took as soon as I upload them.  It was so nice to hang out with old friends.  I am definitely missing my friends and family back in Nashville (and everywhere else in the country), so having Mary and Chris in town was a nice treat.  The one thing that makes things a little easier is knowing that my entire family is feeling the same way that I am (terrible reason, I know).  My mom and brother are the only two that live in Nashville, while my sisters are currently living in Brooklyn, Chicago, and Florida.  I know that it would be much harder if everyone was together, except me…but at least we have my sister’s wedding to look forward to!  Kellen is getting married in Nashville in October.  Just wait…it seems far away, but it will be here before we know it!

Shooguh Whaaa??  Shooguh WhooO??

So, I’m going on day number I-don’t-know-because-I’m-not-really-keeping-track of my lower-sugar experiment.  I think the reason I stopped counting the days is because I like this. I like it aaaa loooot.  Every day has been a little different, but overall I have cut back tremendously on fruit, added-sugar, and refined sugars.  Like always, I am trying to find a balance that I can live with.  For example, yesterday I had my typical AB oatmeal for breakfast, chicken salad and greens for lunch, and then a modified green monster.  Around mid-afternoon I was feeling reaaally tired (needed sleep) and my tummy was feeling weird.  I grabbed a small back of dry roasted pumpkin seeds, but they ended up being waaayy too salty.  When I got home, I just could NOT decide on something to eat for dinner.  I ended up having turkey, cheese, and eggs.  I felt full, but was missing something.  I didn’t want to go snacking away on a bunch of carby carb carbs, so I grabbed a La Tortilla and smeared a small amount of PB on it.  I was FULL.  Like, I can’t put another thing into my mouth kinda full.  Riiiight before bed time (4 hours later) I felt starved!  So weird!  I drank tons of water all afternoon and evening, but was still feeling actual hunger pains.  I made a small bowl of oats w/ water and a dab of PB.  Alll better.

My point for explaining yesterdays eats, was to recognize that I need to plan my meals better this week/weekend and cook ahead of time in order to avoid that “I’m starving and must eat now” feeling.  I also think that I need some type of starchy vegetable in order to help feel full.  It’s so interesting because I am learning to eat in a different way, but unlike previous trials, I am not worried about this or freaking out about calories.  I just feel so much better when I balance protein, fat, and carbs (30-30-30…kinda).  Even though I’m still drinking diet DP and put sweet ‘n low in my coffee, I have stopped sweetening my oats and am experiencing little to no sugar cravings….that alone is worth a SCOOOREE! :)

Well, I gotta get to work now.  I just checked the shipping status of P90X – it’s out for delivery! Yippeee!!!

Tuesday and Wednesday eats!

Yay, it’s almost Friday!!!!

Oh and for a little “raising a puppy” fun…Andrew and I debated letting Charley roam free in our bedroom yesterday morning (we’ve had success a few times recently).  I said no, because while we were getting dressed for work he was  busy pulling all of the books off of our bookshelf.  Andrew left after me and decided to leave him out.  He called to tell me that Charley gave him a “puppy-face” and he just couldn’t put him in his crate…..I reminded Andrew of the book issue, but he was convinced it would be fine.  I got home around lunch time and found this on our bedroom floor….
