You’re movin too fast…

This Jack Johnson song (click it to listen and feel instantly relaxed) just popped into my head as I reflected upon what to write about.  I’m not up for another, “oh I’m so busy…look at what’s been going on” post.  Instead, I’m trying to focus on re-charging, enjoying the weekend, being productive, and realizing how great life is right HERE.  Right NOW.

If you know me, you know that I typically have a chronic case of “What’s next?”…what can I do, buy, make, earn, have, etc. etc.

I am tired and happy.  I don’t need anything else.

I’ll leave you with another fun Halloween snapshot – from left to right are Barney and Betty from the Flinstones (Erik and Susan), Harry Potter and Hermione Granger, and Batman and Robin (Johnny and Cara).

edited:  oops it’d help if I posted the pic…

I can’t believe it’s November 7th…time to slow down and savor each moment.  January will be here before we know it.

Bananas?

I had a perfectly ripe (almost black) banana for breakfast.  It was delicious.  Bananas + Apples = my favorite fruits.

Bets?

The bet’s off.  Remember when Andrew and I made a bet that I could only spend $100 on groceries for the month?  Well, the bet’s off.  Who won?  Neither of us.  We agreed to disagree.  (Even though I reinforced the fact that I COULD win, if we maintained the bet).  You see, of course I could win, but Mr. Andrew and I disagreed on what groceries items were necessities.  Plus, the boy would probably lose 10 pounds if I stuck to the bet for the next 18 days…the problem is, he doesn’t have 10 pounds to lose.  We decided to just make a few cutbacks each week, rather than totally scrimping. PLUS – my meal plans for the low-budget included very little meat, and honestly…we both enjoy a meat protein each night with our dinner.   OOOOHhhh well…I guess, in a way, I kinda won.  Because I always win. ;)

Plus, we looked at cameras at Best Buy last night…we’re considering a DSLR instead of another point and shoot.  Like tons of other bloggers, we both like the Canon Rebel XSi…anyone have any tips or suggestions as to what kind of DSLR we should get??

Bread?

I’m on the social committee at school – fun!  We’re planning our first staff breakfast for this Friday.  It’s the end of the grading period and we have a Professional Day = NO kids! :)   The sixth grade teachers are responsible for bringing bread to the breakfast….WHAT kind of bread should I bring???  I’m thinking about making at least 2 different kinds.  Please offer any suggestions!

And just for giggles…look at my cute Harry Potter trying to fly in our kitchen…

The weekend’s been full of HOTness….hot food, hot costumes, and hot-ter weather (not really hot, but not snowing).

Yeah, soo before I elaborate on the HOTness…guess what – I had ANOTHER snow day on Friday!  That made 3 days in a row that we had off of school due to weather.  Of course, the sun eventually came out around midday and it was gorgeous.  I wasn’t complaining though.  I’m just kinda bummed that we used up all of our “snow days” and it’s just now November.  Oh well!  I’m trying not to stress about the craziness that will be the upcoming week.  On top of continuing to play catch-up, our trimester ends on Thursday.  That means grades are due and I have a lot to learn before completing my first set of Progress Reports!  OK – stress rant is over.

HOT Crush:  The Crushery

Yesterday, Andrew and I were tempted to order lunch from our favorite place.   The Crushery serves incredible bagels, paninis, and salads.  I always try something new and have never been disappointed.  I ordered the buffalo chicken salad and Andrew got the same thing, but in panini-form.  He ran to pick it up and I was amazed at the organization of my salad (yes, I was amazed at the organization of my food).  Check it -

The salad, dressing, chicken, and “croustons” all came individually wrapped in order to preserve the freshness of the salad.

Not only was the chicken perfectly spicy and tender, but there was a ton of it! (This salad was eaten for lunch AND dinner)  The CROUTONS are what I find to be so creative.  All of their salads come with original croutons.  This one had brie and bacon croutons – which is actually a mini-panini cut up into crouton-sized bites.  So good!  The Crushery always makes for a “treat meal”, but it’s so fresh and delicious that I don’t worry about the calories.  I savor the good food and feel satisfied for hourrrrssss.  Ali – you would LOVE this salad!!! After enjoying this spicy salad – I continued to crave the HEAT…I even put Frank’s on my eggs this morning!

After resting, eating, and watching the VOLS WIN Andrew and I passed out candy to tons of trick-or-treaters and got dressed into our own costumes.  After seeing a few little Hermiones come to our door for treats, I began to laugh at the fact that I too was going as Hermione.  Except my costume was a little different. ha!  I wasn’t in the picture taking mood last night, but I’m sure I’ll get some from others to share later on.  Here’s one that we took before heading to the part-ay.

Serious. Crazy.  I know.

We partied til about 1 and then walked our little Griffendor butts home.  I was SO happy to realize that I slept until 8 this morning – and it was really only 7!  Woo!

Happy November – take time to slow down and enjoy the season.  2010 will be here before we know it!
